My name is Jeffrey Barrett I’m from Robbins North Carolina a small rural town in the piedmont area of NC. Throughout elementary and secondary education I learned to play the piano, viola, baritone horn, and sing and developed a strong passion for playing and making music. In the spring of 2013 I graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. in Music Education. My concentration instrument while at A&T was the baritone horn, and throughout college I had solo recitals on both the piano and the baritone horn. I marched in the Blue and Gold Marching Machine (the university marching band) all fours years including 2012 when we marched in the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. Throughout undergrad I became a member of several honors societies including Alpha lambda Delta, Alpha Kappa Mu, Golden Key, and Phi Kappa Phi. I am also a spring 2013 initiate into the Iota Beta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Incorporated. I am currently in graduate school at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. At UNCSA I’m getting my M.F.A. in Film Music Composition and I hope to one day become a successful film composer.
Trying to break into the industry was a
nightmare when I first started out. I didn't know how to find work
or make contacts at all! Thanks to the agents at Starmakers, I was
able to start my career as a dancer!
I've played music semi-professionally
since a very young age and I've worked with more booking agents
that I could care to count, but the agents from Starmakers really
go out of their way to make you feel cared for.
